Classes take place around oval Harkness tables, engaging
every student in an interactive learning experience.
Discussions demand daily preparation, participation,
and a respect for diverse viewpoints. A wide range of
required, elective, and advanced placement courses,
give students the intellectual tools and verbal and
study skills necessary to succeed in college and in
life.
More than 70 percent of our faculty members hold advanced
degrees from leading universities. They interact with
students all day in a variety of roles—as instructors,
coaches, advisors, and dorm parents—and thus have
a true understanding of each student’s interests,
talents, and goals.
Our co-curricular program enables students to develop
talents in many areas from ballet to sculpture, from
athletics to filmmaking. Weekends offer exciting options:
sports events, dorm challenges, and dances, as well
as faculty-led trips to Manhattan.
Students are invited to understand the world’s
major faiths, refine their ethical decision making skills,
and serve others. An array of community service opportunities
enables students to demonstrate their values and grow
in insight and compassion.
Masters School students come from across the nation
and around the world, bringing with them tremendous
vibrancy and remarkable friendliness. With the support
of their peers, students stretch their limits, step
into new roles, and realize their full and unique potential.
Day students come early, stay late, and join in residential and weekend activities. Boarding and day students enrich each others' experiences and enhance the cohesiveness of the community.
Expansive lawns, wooded walking trails, historic architecture,
and Hudson River views provide an inspiring setting
for living and learning. Just a train or car ride away
lies the excitement of New
York City.
