Designed to stimulate the intellectual
and social capacities of our fifth through eighth graders,
the new Middle School building opened in January 2005.
This exciting new building is part
of the academic quadrangle formed by our recently completed
Science and Technology Center and gives our middle schoolers
the space they need for their intellect, energy, enthusiasm,
and creativity to flourish. Highlights include:
• Eleven spacious classrooms
just for middle school use
• Dedicated computer laboratory
• Library/Media Research Center with areas for
both serious academic inquiry and pleasure reading
• Multi-Purpose room that accommodates the entire
middle school for morning meeting, assemblies, and special
events
• Faculty and administrative office space
• Common areas on each floor for informal meetings
and socializing
• An elevator
• Ample locker space
• Middle school art classroom and kiln
Cumulatively, these features
concentrate virtually all academic middle school activities
in one building, minimizing time spent passing from
class to class, and promoting the communal life and
cohesion of our Middle School. At the same time, middle
schoolers feel part of the larger Masters School community
when they move to Strayer Hall for music classes, eat
lunch in the Cameron Mann Dining Hall, and attend all-school
meetings in the theatre.
