Dobbs 16, The Masters School’s
a cappella singing group, won the Northeast Regional
Competition of The National High School A Cappella Championship
on April 9th, 2005 in Medford, Massachusetts .
Representing New York, The Dobbs 16
competed against teams from CT, MA, ME, NH, RI and VT.
The group sang arrangements of pop tunes like “This
Love” by Maroon 5 and it was obvious that the
kids loved the material that they were singing. The
vocal percussionist, Anthony Flammia ’05 of Yonkers
was once again awarded recognition for his
incredible talent.
According to Gillian Crane, the group’s
advisor, “I was so proud of my students, not only
for their musical prowess, but for their energy and
friendly attitude towards their fellow competitors.
Gillian, a 1992 graduate of The Masters School, was
also a member of “16” when she was at the
school.
On Sunday, April 10, the Dobbs 16
returned to their “home theatre” where
they won the Gilda’s Club Westchester High School
A Cappella Contest, besting a dozen other Westchester
groups, all of whom performed to raise money for this
charity. What a weekend!
They look forward to their trip to
the National Championships in Washington DC on Sunday,
May 8th at the Lisner Auditorium. For ticket information,
