On October 15, 2005, upper and middle
schools parents, students, and faculty filled the Claudia
Boettcher Theatre for the Katrina Relief Benefit Concert,
which raised over $12,000 for Habitat for Humanity’s
project, Operation Home Delivery, Rebuilding Homes and
Lives. The evening was a showcase of the artistic talents
of many students that included vocal, instrumental,
and dance performances. Meanwhile, the theatre lobby,
which had been decorated by the freshman class, was
crowded with donated silent auction items, a food sale
including Louisiana delicacies such as jambalaya, and
a very popular selection of jewelry made by our sixth
graders.

This was The Masters School
at its best. In reaction to a massive catastrophe, our
whole community came together in a celebration of art
and helping others. Sponsored by M.I.S.H. (Masters Interested
in Sharing and Helping), this event gave participants
the opportunity to make a personal contribution to a
much larger relief effort.
