On a brisk May morning, the Middle School played host to eighty grandparents and special friends who had the opportunity to spend time with their grandchildren and experience first-hand a day in the life of a
middle schooler.
The day began with a “morning meeting” in the Great Hall. Guests were warmly welcomed by Head of School Maureen Fonseca, Chair of the Board of Trustees Lynn Pilzer Sobel ’71,’99, ’05, and Head of Middle School Everett “Doc” Wilson. Next, to the delight of the audience, under the direction of Music
Department Chair Dr. Nancy Theeman, several members of the talented cast of The Music Man performed scenes from their recent entertaining production.
Then it was on to classes for students and guests, who were invited to participate in discussions, try their hand at perspective drawing, or learn a thing or two about computers.
After two “mini” classes, everyone headed to the Dining Hall for lunch, where Andy’s chocolate chip cookies were as much a hit with the grandparents as they are with their grandchildren!
