We've all heard the expression "you are what you eat." To perform at their optimum and ensure their bodies are in peak condition, dancers, like athletes, have to carefully consider what they eat and drink.
That was the message leading nutrition authority Joy Bauer imparted to Masters School dance students when she visited the school in late February at the invitation of dance teacher Becky Timms. Ms. Bauer, who has built one of the largest nutrition centers in the country located in Manhattan and Westchester, is the nutritionist for New York City Ballet and has a
clientele of high-profile professionals, celebrity actors, fashion models, and Olympic athletes (including Gold Medal winners). She can be seen regularly on national television including The Today Show, Live! with Regis and Kelly, and The View, has been featured in numerous publications, and is the author of several best-selling books.
"I think the students benefited
tremendously from Joy's presentation," comments
dance teacher Becky Timms. "They are now thinking
more about what they eat and their nutritional needs
as dancers, which is a good thing."
