Middle Schoolers Improvise with Grace

On March 14, twelve middle school girls and boys took to the stage of the Claudia Boettcher Theatre and performed before an appreciative audience of students, parents, and friends. The students had worked with dance teacher Becky Timms on the dance disciplines of ballet/jazz/tap and swing dance. In addition, guest teacher Julie Ludwick, who has her own dance company in New York City called “Fly By Night,” worked with the students for five lessons on improvisational movement. The students performed two dances—an improvisational piece created by Ms. Ludwick, and a more traditional dance piece choreographed by Ms. Timms—and they showed that they were quick studies!
