Awards to Honor Commitment, Excellence,
and Service

The Dobbs Alumnae/i Association Board is proud to announce the recipients of its 2006 annual alumnae/i and faculty awards. These individuals will be honored in person at Reunion 2006 on Saturday, May 20, at 11:00 a.m., during the Dobbs Alumnae/i Association assembly in the Claudia Boettcher Theatre. The distinguished honorees are:

Eliza Bailey Masters Fellowship Award: Laura Lee Brown ’59

The Eliza Bailey Masters Fellowship Award was initiated during the centennial celebration of the School to honor alumnae/i who exemplify the aims and philosophy of Miss Masters through outstanding service to his or her wider community, who make a difference in the community by participating in service projects, and who seek a common good beyond their comfort. In addition, winners of the award must have maintained their "ties to and affection for Dobbs."

The Richmond Bowl: Susan Madden Samson ’57

The Richmond Bowl was created to honor Nell Angle Richmond ’34 and Tom Richmond, and it has been presented each year by the Dobbs Alumnae/i Association to an alumna/us whose exceptional support of and service to Dobbs reflects the same outstanding quality of creative leadership demonstrated by the Richmond family. The award goes to an alumna/us who has worked as a Dobbs volunteer in a number of different jobs over a period of years, showing leadership and dedication in not just one but many areas of service. It recognizes a kind of selfless dedication and willingness to serve.

Anna Howe Faculty Award: John “Jack” Pierpont, Music Department, 1963-1981

The Anna Howe Faculty Award was established in 2002 to recognize either former or current faculty members who have helped to shape and change the lives of their students in a positive way. The award is presented to a teacher who has not only excelled in the classroom but whose guidance, encouragement, and support has made a meaningful difference to the students.

Congratulations to Laura Lee, Susan, and Jack. You make us very proud, indeed!
